HOW CAN DIABETICS IMPROVE SENSATION IN ANKLES?

With diabetes causing some loss of sensation in my feet, I’m concerned about foot protection and injury prevention. Can improving ankle sensation help?

Proprioception—the ability of the ankle to sense its position—plays a crucial role in preventing injuries, particularly for those with diabetes. Although there is limited information on how diabetes affects proprioception, exercises to enhance ankle proprioception may help.

Until more is known, consider incorporating exercises to improve proprioception, which physiotherapists often recommend after ankle injuries.
